A self-taught photographer, Vicki finds inspiration in the towering bluffs and winding rivers of Wisconsin’s Driftless Region. Growing up surrounded by this landscape instilled in her a deep appreciation for nature and a commitment to treading lightly upon it.
Exploring the wooded hills and valleys of southwest Wisconsin has long been her favorite pastime. Photography became the means to share the beauty and emotion of these places, allowing her to capture and convey the essence of the landscapes she cherishes.

During the tour, Vicki will discuss all things photography related.
Vicki is located in a residential neighborhood. One step into home studio.

Mikel has been working professionally in clay for over 25 years, creating both functional and sculptural pieces. His practice incorporates a range of techniques, from traditional wheel throwing to slab building and sculpting. Rather than adhering to a specific theme, Mikel embraces the fluid nature of clay, allowing each piece to evolve organically through the creative process.

During the tour, Mikel will be working on a number of objects throughout the course of the weekend, including working on horse hair tiles, creating sculptures, etc. Mikel may also do some raku firing demos, depending on the weather.
My studio is in the village of Mt. Horeb so has street parking. It is mostly accessible, with three steps in the front and a flat entrance in the back.

Growing up as a Wisconsin farm kid the appreciation and veneration of food was ingrained at a young age, and becoming a potter was a natural transition for me. I fell in love with pottery in High School and continued my education at UW Oshkosh, graduating with a degree in Ceramics. Through my studies I solidified my desire to honor the act of sharing meals by creating honest, sturdy, and beautiful pieces made to be shared.
I am greatly inspired by connections: connection of food to farm, connection of meal with vessel, to the connection between potter and cook. By embracing the use of a handmade object the individual allows for a connection to be created between maker and user, giving a greater appreciation and purpose to the object. Each object is made to encourage the viewer to explore it with their hands; to feel the texture, weight, and the overall essence of the piece. Most of all they are meant to be vessels for the sharing of food made with the same amount of passion and care as the pot itself. My work is intended to be the supporting role , subtle and humble allowing that which it contains to be the star whether it is Bruschetta or a bouquet of spring flowers.

During the tour, I will be making pots on the wheel and glazing them.
No stairs, street parking, wheelchair and stroller accessible.

This work represents an idea of focusing on forms and line, texture and functionality. Ideas come from many places including the natural world I see every day outside the studio in south west Wisconsin’s “driftless area” and industrial blacksmithing techniques from the early years of the Industrial revolution. The joinery is out front to be seen rather than trying to hide it, it becomes an aesthetic part of each piece. The fronts of all the cabinet pieces have a story to tell, whether it’s an abstract representation of our agricultural area or a connection to the historical steel industry.

Tours of the studio and equipment will be given. Discussion about the process of forging and the tools used will also be happening.
The studio is located at the end of the gravel driveway. Parking on the side of the driveway. The studio is one level and has a flat entrance, it is wheel chair accessible.

Julie creates nature-inspired, handcrafted jewelry using copper, sterling silver, and brass. Specializing in fold-forming, she repeatedly heats, folds, and forges metal to achieve organic, sculptural designs. Her work often incorporates etching, traditional metalsmith techniques, and elements like stones, beads, or found objects. Each piece is a small wearable sculpture that celebrates the natural world.
As a photographer, Julie is driven by light—observing how it silhouettes, highlights, and reveals hidden colors in the environment. She explores nature from every angle, studying details up close to capture unique perspectives.
Continuously pushing her creative vision, Julie invites viewers to experience her work through jewelry, photography, and beyond.

During the tour, Julie will demonstrate jewelry fold-forming techniques and talk about the processes used when designing and building a piece of jewelry.
Additionally, Julie will have her photographs on display and will tell the stories behind how she captures her images.

Jennifer is a fiber artist, and discovered wool felting while living in New Zealand, inspired by the crashing ocean waves, swaying Toitoi grass, and Merino sheep. Previously a weaver, she transitioned to felting, drawn to its rich textures and expressive possibilities. Using high-quality Australian wool, she explores traditional and contemporary techniques, incorporating inlays, prefelts, and silks to create abstract, geometric designs that invite personal interpretation. Now based in Wisconsin, Angelo is a founding member of the Madison Area Felters’ Guild and an active member of several national and international fiber arts organizations.
