John Pahlas back for Spring Art Tour 2021

John Pahlas is back for the Spring Art Tour for 2021!

Pahlas is busy creating spectacular giant installations and tiny beauties that you’ll be able to see in person this June 4-6 at the Spring Art Tour!

On Social media he recently posted about an exhilarating, intense, and somewhat stressful (no one got hurt!) installation of a giant heron at K & A Greenhouse. Check it out:

John Pahlas' metal sculpture of a heron (in studio, in progress)

Thanks so much Angie & Chris of @ka_greenhouse for providing me with yet another fun and challenging project! As the truck backed in to prep for unloading the heron Angie said, “this must be kind of sad for you to say goodbye to a sculpture you’ve worked so much on”… and I can’t remember exactly how I replied, because I was so FULL to the brim with excitement to have A)successfully gotten the beast out of the bay with only a minor setback to the garage door (which thankfully didn’t take too long for the garage door guys to fix) And B)successfully gotten it loaded onto the truck with ease and zero injuries to anything or anyone.

And after getting it in its place and to hear the immediate responses from everyone at the greenhouse… there is no way I could feel sadness! I create art to share it with others and with each custom project I am encouraged to go that extra mile and share bolder visions through the infinite possibilities held within salvaged rusty steel! I did put my heart and soul into this heron, and to be able to share that with others is the entire reason I make art. Step into the greenhouses at K&A… and you will see they put their hearts and souls into those plants too! This current time in history, we need to share our heart n soul energy on unprecedented scales!! Step up and stand tall to accept the challenge! What a great project, onto the next!!

And here is one of her recent “Smalls” titled ‘Roderick Finishes His Reading’

She writes: “My work is about storytelling. I use drawing, acrylic and mixed materials to develop my stories. I start out with a basic idea and, combining figures, line, texture, color and pattern, the story takes shape as I as I develop it on the canvas. With the title in place I encourage the viewer to participate, to expand on the idea and continue the story in a way that is meaningful to them.”

That said, Heidi, lately got back into the studio after too much time taking care of everything and everybody else. She recently writes:
“First time back in the studio for what seems like forever. I wanted to try an oval serving dish and some medium bowls to get back in the swing of things. I have to say it feels really good to touch clay again!”

Welcome Patty Klarer to Spring Art Tour 2021

Besides working with clients on their personal pieces,

Patty enjoys seeing what her soul in unison with her hands generate from an interesting collection of gems, ammonites and natures trinkets.

With insight and knowledge only an experienced jeweler would have, Patty writes of this ring: “Aquamarine is the March birthstone. It’s a light blue gem that gives off a cool feeling. This ring holds a pear cut Aquamarine and it’s cool quality seems to be enhanced in this yellow gold custom setting.”

And on her Social Media page Precious Metal Kreations at Bergey Jewelry (the jewelry store in Mount Horeb where she sells her work), she writes about this piece here:

“A heartfelt mobius design transformed into an heirloom diamond pendant for a friend.”

This is Klarer’s first year on the Spring Art Tour…

…and we are thrilled to have her! Her studio will be open for the Tour. To find out more and get a preview of her bedazzling work, please see her Spring Art Tour Artist page!

“The most important element to me is the use of color”

—particularly in how color itself, rather than shading or composition, affect mood and the viewer’s response. I have used the same or variations on a compositional theme repeatedly, using different colors and color combinations to achieve different moods and responses to my work.

Please welcome Sarah Aslakson to Spring Art Tour for 2021!

Aslakson will be showing with Chuck Bauer at his Hen House Studio and Gallery. Find out more and see some of Sarah’s featured work at her Spring Art Tour Artist page.
